Book Review: THE LEGEND, by Patricia Gligor

I recommend The Legend to lovers of charming, small-town mysteries with lovable characters and a page-turning plot.

Small-town life is busy for Kate as she plans her own upcoming wedding, raises her semi-surly teenage daughter, and keeps the peace between her gossip-loving mother and mischievous grandmother.

Things get more complicated for Kate when she and her best friend, Beth, rent a (reportedly haunted) nearby inn for the 50th-anniversary celebration of Beth’s parents.  Who knew that on the very night of their party, a mysterious death would occur at the historic inn?

Of course, with Kate and Beth on hand, with their inquiring minds and suspicious natures, the death cannot possibly be from natural causes. Before the party decorations have even been packed away, the game’s afoot.

The reader feels like a familiar resident of this small town, watching all the homey, normal, neighbors and friends interact with the adorable amateur sleuths and with one another. Author Patricia Gligor puts the reader into her marvelously well-crafted world, populated with believable and engaging characters.

I will certainly be watching for Gligor’s next book featuring the residents of Storyville. After reading The Legend, you will be awaiting the next book, too.
