Review: ETHAN’S HEART, The Blackwood Brothers, Volume 1, by Vickie King.
A suspenseful and sweet Old West romance with no offensive material.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars by Iris Chacon.
Annie Benton leaves an Oregon-bound wagon train to seek medical care for her baby in the town of Cooper’s Creek. The doctor, seeing Annie alone and penniless with a child to raise, matches her up with his brother, Ethan, who is a widower with two little girls to raise. A marriage of convenience is arranged quickly. Only after the ceremony does Annie realize that she, a woman with too many secrets (including a murder), has made the worst match possible: Ethan Blackwood is the sheriff.
Vickie King has created characters and places that become three-dimensional to the reader. The story line has enough twists and turns to keep us turning page after page. In all, for lovers of a good cowboy story, this one is fun and lovable. No offensive material, though sex between married partners is implied.
