Childhood friends and former sweethearts Addie and Frank are reunited after years at opposite ends of the country. Frank is widowed with a young daughter, Lissie. Addie is divorced and pining for her ex-stepson, Henry. Frank has inherited the house where Addie grew up, and Addie rents the garage apartment behind that house — an apartment that holds poignant memories for both of them.

This novel was pure sweetness and fun, with the youngsters’ angst over their roles in the school Christmas Pageant, and the adults’ rekindling an old romance, amidst the happiness and nostalgia of Christmas. Linda Lael Miller does not disappoint. With her usual art and skill, she has created a novel that is pleasantly predictable but also occasionally shines with originality.
